News:
Romanian slopes are in bad shape
23/01/2009
Due to the high temperatures and the rains that occurred in the last days, the majority of the ski slopes from Romania are in a real bad shape. To be more exact, just a few of them are still usable: Arieseni, Busteni, Harghita Bai, Poiana Brasov (Bradul slope) or Sinaia (Valea Dorului slope), but even these have patches of ice and even dirt.
This weather hit hard even in some of the "safe-case" winter resorts like Azuga, Borsa, Cavnic, Straja, Parang or Poiana Brasov (the slopes from Postavarul) that had plenty of snow every year and that kept their slopes open until late March or even early April. We're hoping that more snow and low temperatures will come shortly, at least the meteorologists are optimistic and predict good snows starting with 1st of February.
